In their new homes
Echo
Adopting another animal after yours passes can be an emotional roller coaster.
Luckily for Echo, her new family has been willing to ride the roller coaster, through the highs and lows, smiles and tears, and she is now living the life every cat deserves. Read about their journey, from losing three much-loved animals in six months to welcoming Echo into their hearts and home. |
Who will be the next lucky kitty to be adopted?
|
Rosie
Rosie is a very special kitty. She has one eye rather than two, went missing for two weeks in the country and was found in a cat trap. When her family was contacted, they wouldn't collect her from the pound.
She's now found her perfect match, where she can put her past behind her and where she's receiving the love and care she deserves. "She's settled in really well. She runs from one end of the house to the other, loves playing with mice and has a special ritual with my husband when he comes home: she knocks the toy mouse off the scratching pole, he puts it back, she knocks it off. She loves sleeping on the doona on the sofa and sleeps between us in bed, on her blanket. She even comes to us when we call her. She's very happy and so are we." And everyone at VDRG is very, very happy! |
Lilith, now Sierra
Lilith, now Sierra, has left pawprints in the hearts of everyone in her family - humans, dogs and cats alike.
She cuddles up with the dogs and they try to wrestle with her. Read about her new life. |
Ms Fitzwilliam and Ms Fitzgerald, now Epsy & Beta
Being part Bengal, we thought Ms Fitzwilliam and Ms Fitzgerald would be adopted very quickly. But, being shy with strangers, it took a few 'dates' before they met their perfect match.
" We are so lucky to have found our baby girls. They seem very happy in their new home." More. |
Ugo Ginger, now Francois
Ugo Ginger, now known as Francois, is loving life.
This large part Norwegian forest cat, weighing in at a hefty 7-8kg, shares life with his Main Coon friend, Luna, who's tiny in comparison. More photos. |
Tealie
Tealie is now almost three and is a very grown up young lady. She has a strong personality and is always happy to tell her servant off when she doesn't like something.
"She is very beautiful and loves to retrieve (a lot of doggie qualities), be chased around the house, sit in front of the fire and, of course, get lots of cuddles, but only on request." |
Trinket, now Amber
It's almost 3 years since we adopted our beautiful Amber (formerly Trinket).
She's a constant source of pleasure, a delightful companion, reigning with a velvet paw. She's pictured here catching some winter sun. Amber proved how clever she is, shortly after she came to live with us. Mid-way through cleaning her litter tray, I was called to the phone. Poor girl must've been waiting with her legs crossed, as she knocked the bag of litter on to its side, scooped out some litter on to the laundry floor, and used it. We were highly impressed by her initiative. Her favourite toys are mice ~ but only black, white or grey! ~ and foil balls. She loves to catch them mid-air, as well as bat them around the house; if you're ever needing a feline soccer player, she's your girl! More. |
Dallas
Dallas is Callie's son and Dakota's brother (see below). We remember when he came into our care, as a days-old kitten. Look at him now.
"Dallas is one energetic, fun-loving, head-butting, heater-hogging, good-looking, milk-stealing, gift-giving pussy cat!. We could not imagine life without him. Thank you Vic Dog Rescue!" More. |
Tuxedo
Tuxedo (left) has just moved into his new home. This handsome guy had his own fan club, judging by the number of enquiries he received.
Here he is getting acquainted with his new BFF, Basil. More. |
Jules, now Kaila
Jules may well have broken a world record.
In just 24 hours, she touched the hearts of her foster carers and convinced them that she was the one for them, even though they had no plans to add to their existing family before she arrived. Congratulations, Jules. Read her story. |
Germain & Garnet, now Wellington & Mr Tufty
Two beautiful Tuxedo lads.
"The boys are great, we love them to bits. They are kings of the household and get along very well. I was glad we got the 2 of them together." More photos. |
Jessiekoola, now Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones, aka Indi, had to be fattened up when she first came to us. Now she's living the high life.
"A very independent little girl, and pretty naughty but she is also very clever and inquisitive and figures everything out. Cuddles are completely on her terms but at night she always comes into bed with us and cuddles right up next to my face. I haven't actually had a proper night's sleep since we got her but I can't bring myself to stop her sleeping with us. She plays with literally everything and LOVES bags, of any description. She is super social and just loves weekends, especially if we are home all day. She completely tires herself out because she doesn't want to miss anything!! She brings us so much happiness, can't imagine life without her!" More photos. |
Brahms & Beethoven
Brahms and Beethoven were best buds from the moment they met after being rescued. Now they're living the good country life, with laps on tap and a young boy to adore them.
"The boys are settling in beautifully and their personalities are shining through. Beethoven is very cheeky (the naughty one if you want to call it that i.e. lots of jumping on the counters and things like pulling the clothes off the air dryer!) and Brahms is quiet and likes to sleep on the couch. They're both very affectionate which is lovely. If you get down on the floor, they both come and accost you for cuddles! They have brought so much life to the house and we really do love them." Lap time. |
Sage, now Ebony
Ebony's family lost their previous Burmese to a car. Not wanting the same thing to happen, they've built her her own playpen along the side of the house. Check it out. She gifts them with a procession of insects each evening and goes for morning garden meanders in her Mynwood walking jacket.

Dakota and Callie
Callie is a rare cat Mum - she gets to share her life with her son, Dakota.
Gotta love a foster carer who decides they can't part with their foster cats. |
